Dr. Consuelo H. Wilkins, MD MSCI

Dr. Wilkins is internationally recognized for her work in community engaged research and is a leader in the emerging field of precision medicine. She served as Founding Director of the Center for Community Health and Partnerships in the Institute for Public Health and gained national recognition in the fields of aging and community engaged research. She is a PI of the recently funded Vanderbilt-Miami-Meharry Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine and Population Health and leads stakeholder engagement for the Precision Medicine Initiative Pilot program.

Consuelo H. Wilkins, MD, MSCI is a physician and biomedical researcher who is currently Executive Director of the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance–a strategic partnership between Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Wilkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Howard University College of Arts and Sciences and received the Doctor of Medicine degree from Howard University College of Medicine in 1996. She completed internship and residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center and a geriatric medicine fellowship at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Her research focused on the complex intersection between cognitive impairment, physical frailty, and depression and contributed significantly to the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease among African Americans.
